The Paper Tower

Paper Tower Challenge.

This was great team building exercise and that was great experience to us. This exercise encourages creative problem solving through teamwork.

We created paper tower on 12th of June 2018 at B11 212 hall for GNCT with sarasi madam who is our GNCT lecturer.

Directions:

  • Divide everyone into three groups of 10 to 12 people.
  • The goal of this exercise is to have our team build the tallest free standing tower with 5 A4 sheets.

Rules:

  • We were given fifteen minutes to plan and build our tower.
  • We were allowed to use only 5 A4 sheets given by lecturer.
  • While we build the tower, we might speak to each other in English.
  • We were not allowed to speak in Sinhala in any case.

Materials:

  • Five A4 sheets.
  • Selotapes.

There were 3 groups and they showed their creativity power by creating an amazing paper tower. One of our groups did it like cylinder type. First the paper needs to be rolled into cylinders and then they fixed it as a tower. As well as another group built nelum tower and that was the highest tower among three towers. The winning group built their tower with strong base and that's reason to win that tower in this challenge. That is the best way to make the paper tower strong enough to hold any decent weight.
We enjoyed that time with doing and learning lot of things and having so fun. It was really valuable because got more experiences not only building a paper tower but also doing team work.
